For CEOs

What are the biggest day-to-day challenges you face in running your business? Consistent management across your team? Team cohesion and coordination? Keeping your team motivated and focused? Are you unsure if you have the right people in the right roles?

According to a post-mortem of shuttered startups by CB Insights, these are all recurring themes that startup founders continue to struggle with. I can help.

For more than 20 years, I’ve worked at and with technology startups. I’ve built, recruited, trained and mentored technical teams who are trying to take on a new technical or business challenge, handle difficult clients and learn to work together. Now, in partnership with founders, I coach them.

I love the energy of a startup, but I am painfully aware of how delicate and potentially volatile it can be. Most managers in (particularly early stage) startups are passionate, but new the role. You probably made them manager because they were a Rock Star as an individual contributor, and you trusted their dedication to your business. That is the most important place to start, but after that, many individual contributors find they need some help in transitioning to a manager mindset – which is what both you and their team needs of them.

Coaching through this transition is what I do.

Consider the following:

  • A recent study by CareerBuilder states that 58% of managers never receive any management training.
  • A Harvard Business Review survey reveals 58% of people say they trust strangers more than their own boss.
  • Global studies reveal that 79% of people who quit their jobs cite ‘lack of appreciation’ as their reason for leaving. People don’t leave their job, they leave their boss.
  • The Conference Board reports that 53% of Americans are currently unhappy at work.

Your business depends on your team – and not just today, but over time. You need your best people to stay, and for them to recommend your company to the best people in their networks. GlassDoor reviews consistently show that rapidly growing startups frequently have the biggest employee satisfaction challenges around management.

My passion is helping entrepreneurs build scalable organizations that attract and retain world-class talent – the cornerstone of which is your management team. Every high performing athlete has a coach. Wouldn’t it make sense for you to have one for your team, too?

Please feel free schedule a complimentary discovery call with me to discuss how I can help you and/or your management team build the skills and habits to drive a high-performing organization.
